Apa itu Indeks?

Indeks ialah satu cara untuk menjejak prestasi kumpulan aset asas, dalam kes ini, ekuiti.

Satu contoh adalah S&P500 yang terdiri daripada 500 syarikat tersenarai yang terbesar di AS. Jika harga satu ekuiti yang membentuk S&P500 naik, maka anda akan melihat peningkatan dalam nilai S&P500. Ini juga akan menjadi sebaliknya jika nilai ekuiti asas turun. Terdapat pelbagai indeks dari seluruh dunia dengan beberapa indeks utama di UK, dikenali sebagai FTSE100 atau indeks Jerman yang dikenali sebagai Dax30.
